Disorganization
Bottom line is that you are not an organized person, never were, never will be! Right? Wrong! You simply cannot understanding how any one can stay on top of all the papers and myriad responsibilities thrown at them every day. Do these examples sound familiar?
- You're embarrassed when your boss or a colleague stops by your desk. There is always some snide comment about how you find anything in the piles. What's worse is that you know they're right.
- You've got a great idea, you want to get started right away but before you can start you've got to find some supplies. By the time you find them you're frustrated intsead of excited.
- You have lots of loose ends that you just can’t tie up. There are so many competing priorities -- what should you do first? They all need to be done NOW!
- Friends have stopped inviting you over because you never reciprocate. Of course you never invite them over — you can’t imagine what they’d think of the mess you live in!
- No matter how many different systems you have tried, you just can’t seem to stay organized.
- You've got projects piled up waiting for you. One of these days you'll get to them, you just have no idea when you'll finally get to them.
- Magazines that come in through the mailbox every day get stacked unread in the corner of your living room laughing at you, waiting for the day you finally get to them.
- Paying bills is an ordeal! You have to search through stacks of paper in every room of your home. You often pay late, and even if you do write your checks on-time, it doesn't mean that it will be mailed on-time!
- Your kids seem to be just like you. You get on their case to clean their rooms and to stay on top of their homework.... but in the back of your mind you wonder how you can expect more from them in light of the disorganized and growing stack of paper on your desk.
These are all very real examples of how disorganization can affect you at home and at work. The good news is that there are ways to deal with these problems.
There are ways to channel your energy in new ways to help you put things away and find them when you need them. There are ways to schedule your time so that you can get projects done. You can feel confident when your boss walks over to your desk or you invite a friend over to your home.
